The Ventura Film Festival exists as an all-inclusive international cinema festival that raises awareness for environmental challenges including forest and sea protection and rehabilitation, via an annual film festival and associated activities. The Ventura Film Festival began in 2004 and has presented countless films, regularly over 200 films during summer months, and has attracted attention from the global cinema community. Some of the highlights have been hosting award winning filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the initial world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend as well as Ian Cairns, 4x world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA combatant the celebrated Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50th Anniversary tribute to West Side Story, which included hosting the entire Academy Award winning cast of West Side Story, including Oscar recipient/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris along with Golden Globe winner/Oscar-nominated Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival creator and executive director was selected to take part, alongside numerous Hollywood elite, in the golden anniversary celebration of West Side Story and Hollywood's famous footprint/handprint ceremony recognizing Academy Award winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, together with Golden Globe champion Russ Tamblyn at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This celebration also functioned as the official BluRay release by Fox and MGM of the iconic West Side Story, which is generally recognized by here critics and fans as the best musical of all time. This esteemed acknowledgment and participation illustrates the festival's meaningful presence and valued role within the entertainment community.
